while distributing my time between teaching and the exercise of the profession, strengthens the conviction that the most interesting of the architecture it is the weakness of its condition, in spite of its definitive appearance. like poetry.
in contests I find: a form of thinking about the discipline where words are unnecessary; the challenge that i need to believe again in the art of the project; an excuse not to stop inventing (although it is an excuse in itself); the illusion of being able to reach the parnasus of the architects, even not knowing what such thing is. -
the projects, however, are opportunities to show (to a client, to the city) that, after all, what makes them really interesting is the fact that they are in accordance with a place, (a situation) that remains during a given time. like music.
creativity, critical reflection, capacity of answer, will of improvement, ubiquity and respect, good sense and sensitivity (in that order in particular), curiosity by everything (generally); far from being qualities they are, in the best of the cases, placebos. in the end, time waits, just next to the nothingness.
